135 Mile Walk Across Oahu – a Charity Walk for Disabled and Wounded Veterans

The 135-mile Walk Across Oahu took place on Nov. 8 to Veterans Day, November 11, 2009. Inspired by the story of Sgt. 1st Class Sualauvi Malua Tuimalealiifano, a trio of walkers – Yvette Lee, John M. Cummings III and Tofi Mika Jr. – traveled to every town to spread their message–to say ‘Thank You’ to our disabled and wounded troops; to raise awareness of the issues and challenges affecting them; and to raise charitable funds to renovate SFC Tuimalealiifano’s home to become handicapped accessible as well as for the Oahu Veterans Center and the Disabled American Veterans at Tripler Hospital. They succeed in achieving all their goals. Watts Constructors will renovate Tuimalealiifano’s home free of charge and the OVC and DAV will get needed funds to carry out their mission.
