My Legs are really sore from doing a 10KM run?

Hi,
I’m 13, and today our school had a 12KM walkathon, but alot pf people chose to run it, and so did i, but now my legs are really aching, and its hard to walk or even stand up.
What should i do.

Well, that means you ran hard, and good job for doing that! What you should do is take a hot bath, relax your muscles. Also ice your legs maybe. Make sure you rest your legs!

Just rest up. By doing that much running, it’s gonna get sore. Especially if you don’t run often. It’s just like working out your upper arms or lower back..etc. It gets sore cause it’s working on the muscles.

Now, unless you have tremendous pain, then going to the doctor wont hurt. Just like in basic training. Walking 6 miles with a 70 lb ruck sake on your back, you tend to get really sore if you weren’t use to a lot of exercising.

But again, it’s up to you to decide exactly how much pain it really is and if you think you gotta go to the doc. My first opinion is just to rest up. Give it a few days.

Congrats on a great run. You should be proud of yourself. Most 13 year olds couldn’t run a 10K. If you don’t run either for distance or on firm ground you can expect to be sore for a few days. I sometimes after 2 days force myself to at least get out and run a couple miles to get my muscles stretched a little bit. Sometimes that helps. Keep up the great work.

well if you didn’t train for it, yeah they’re gonna b sore. i trained a lot for a 10k i did and my legs were still sore. you have to stretch immediately before and after running for at least 15 min, no matter how long u run for.
