Walkathon Blog

All about walkathons

Have you ever volunteered or been a part of an organization for a good cause?

My friend is doing a walkathon to raise money for the humane society, and I’m really wanting to volunteer for something too.

Yes I have volunteered many times and always have felt good afterwards. Planned occasions or spur of the moment either way it is good for those your helping and great for your inner soul. Just about any Non-Profit organization will be happy to have volunteers.
Walk-a-thon’s and Relays for any cause are a good start, The Autism Speaks event is coming soon, and I am sure no matter where you live you will be welcome to join that event. Some Humane Societies also encourage volunteers to assist with their daily needs. If you love animals that is also a good start.
Boys and Girls Clubs and the YMCA also.
Good Luck! I also like to volunteer before the Holidays with the local Food Pantries , and participate in assisting those less fortunate to have food for the Holidays. Even serving food on a Thanksgiving is rewarding. Hope you have a great experience, it will do the heart good.

I worked for the Red Cross who do many good works for the poor. It can be anything from working in their shops through to delivering leaflets to help raise awareness.
Good on you for trying to make a difference hun.

I worked for a mentor program similar to the Big Brother/Big Sister organization. We would mentor youth who had an older sibling who was in jail or has a delinquent rap sheet and step in as the older sibling. So many kids in our city turned their lives around just by having an encouraging and loving role model by their side ready to help them out in a moments notice.
