I want to know how to get someone to sponser my walkathon.?

I am orginizing a walkathon in my community and i wanted someone like publix or Doris (local supermarkets) to sponser my event for food and beverages. Althought i have NO idea how to go on with this HELP PLEASE!

Almost all large and many smaller companies have formal donation processes to assist the many valuable community groups that support the neighborhoods where they do business. A quick call to the service desk at any of these locations can give you information on submitting to a particular company. Some advice- Give them plenty of notice. Many companies decide on their donations weeks or months in advance. Some businesses only give to registered non-profits. Provide your 501(c)3 number if you have one. Be sure to be prepared to provide the business with value they can understand. While logo placement on site is important for many, illustrating the other benefits to the company are also important. Be specific. If you’re doing a walk for 200 people, ask for 200 bottles of water, 4 cases of bananas, 2 cases of apples, etc rather than just "refreshments". This helps with budgeting.
