Has anyone lost weight while training for a half-marathon?
I have just started running for the first time in a long time and I would like to run a half-marathon exactly one year from today. I started walking and running yesterday and was just curious if anyone has done this? How long did it take and what was your pre-training program like? Thanks!
I ran my first 1/2 marathon last year and will start training again soon, i was not a runner at all, but was in shape from high school wrestling, i ended up losing 15 lbs, probably getting down to about 6.5% body fat. I ate alot of subway too. i started off a mile a day, and eventually got up to an 8 mile loop once a week (other days about 2 or 3 miles) after getting in a few 9 mile runs, i ran the Columbus 1/2. in all training was about 200 days. be careful you dont start too early because you’ll get burnt out, you’ll be surprised how fast you get in shape, good luck !
p.s. if you enjoy running outside, try www.mapmyrun.com , it will let you map out a specific distance via satellite

It won’t take you very long to buil;d up to a half marathon.
If your training program gives you slow long runs then you will definitely lose weight. How often are you training?
I built up to a marathon and early on I had already lost a lot of weight. The point is that I did slow long runs to get my body into fat burning mode.
I ran 6 times a week though. Have you tried runners world for a program? Thats where I got mine.
