Walkathon Charity Events

walkathon

A walkathon can be a great way to raise money for your organization or special project. Yes, a walkathon is a fundraiser. However, it is much more.

Walkathons are used to let others know about your organization’s mission. These charity events can be used to engage and promote local businesses. They also can be used as a way to identify new volunteers and advocates.

With so many potential benefits coming from one of these walk events, it is no surprise that many organizations are now hosting walkathon fundraising events. There are at least three major items to consider before deciding to get started:

  1. Successful walkathons require significant planning and preparation. You may have attended a walk event in the past that appeared easy. The easier it looks, the more planning and preparation was probably given to it that made it appear easy. Make sure you have several committed volunteers before getting started.
  2. Successful walkathons usually require some money before the fundraising begins and always requires insurance that covers the event. if your organization does not have an adequate insurance that will cover the walkathon, this is an additional cost that must be considered before getting started. Enlisting sponsors to your event can be a great way to raise the startup capital required.
  3. Successful walkathons require something that allows it to stand out above all of the other walkathons and other charity events that are taking place in the same time frame.  This something could be some twist to the event itself or it could be something unique about the organization’s mission or project the money is being raised for.

If you still want to hold a walkathon after considering these items, good for you! The purpose of the Walkathon Blog is to provide ideas, tips, resources and stories that will help you in your endeavor.

Enjoy!

when you register for a breast cancer walk do you pay anything?

No. Usually you have people you know sign a pledge slip that they will donate so much per mile you walk. They will be contacted after you complete the walk. Thank you for caring.

Walking a marathon…..am i taking the right foods?

I’m going on a huge walk tomorrow…..26 and a half miles, and was just wanting your opinion as to whether i’m taking the right sort of food with me, bearing in mind i am on a serious diet!
Well, i was thinking of taking lots of fruit:bananas and apples mostly.
I wasn’t gonna bother with bread as it’s quite high in calories and i haven’t been eating it on my diet….instead i’ll take a tuna salad…is that ok? or would bread be better?
Lots of water obviously
And maybe a couple of rice cakes which are only 32 cals each.
Is that ok food wise?

Ur choice of fruits is a wise one. U will get all the energy from them.

Eat well but only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. To have more satisfaction out of ur food, Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will also activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals. Do not go on fast or starvation diet.

Nothing other than water in between.

No special diet, call it by any name or program helps as one cannot adopt them on permanent basis. Diet pills are chemicals and per se bad and shud be avoided unless the doc considers it necessary looking at ur condition.

Take light exercises and brisk walks for 30 min.regularly preferably on empty stomach and twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time and hassle free.

Be patient and not in a hurry.

U cannot choose spots for reduction.

This schedule can be adopted on permanent basis to lead a healthy life and maintain weight.

Need a creative name for Humane Society Charity Walk?

I am participating in my local humane society charity walk and I need a good name for the team I am starting- I can’t think of anything! I would like to encorporate something with my chihuahua Rosa and her cousin Echo, who is a lab mix. They are both black, one is tiny and one is big. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

One. (As in we all are one).

how to raise money for charity? please help?

at school we got a competition on who can raise the most money for charity and the winner gets fast tracks for thorpe park, as we are going in the summer term.

We are making cakes, muffins, brownies, hot dogs in the lesson but you are aloud to do stuff out of school, my friend is selling cakes etc at break and lunch and don’t want to be classed as coping if i join in.

Can you think of some things i could do in, or out side of school that would raise some/alot of money for charity. eg. sponsored swim/run/walk/silence, selling handmade birthday cards…

please help, thanks again..x

anything that you can get sponsored for or get a lot of people to join in with; maybe you could do a flashmob at school (basically a dance like macarana and lots of people join in) we raised £200 from doing the exact same flashmob except we did it to cha cha slide as well
